Get Their Attention Without the “D” Word

If discounting is not ultimately the best for your bottom line, how can you draw more attention to your products and services and entice customers to buy?  Here are a few ideas for promoting without the discount.

Don't discount

1.  Offer a purchase with purchase.  “Buy a Triple Bronzer at regular price, get a Color Club Nail Art Kit for just $19 more.”  The price on your nail kit does not have to be reduced; simply arranging your promotion in this manner enhances the perceived value in the mind of the customer.

2.  Two words – Bag Deal.  Bundling assorted products together in an attractive package makes customers feel they’re getting a good deal by buying in bulk.  Combine two to three skincare products with a pair of sunglasses, an eyewear case, and/or a lip balm to maximize your average transaction value and even move slower selling items.

3.  Offer a free gift with purchase.  “Buy a Triple Bronzer at regular price, get a FREE packette valued at $11.”   It’s much healthier for your bottom line to offer a product with minimal cost to you for free than to give a dollar or percentage discount off your bronzer.

4.  Make your expertise the special deal.  Make an attractive ‘Bonus Bundle’ which includes a product assortment along with an attractive looking reference tool on how to maintain healthy and beautiful skin with these products.  A laminated card or bookmark with important information (How To… or 10 Tips for…) is a great take home tool viewed as a bonus treat.
