Plan an Eyewear Awareness Event

Image may contain: 2 peopleYou might want to consider how an Eyewear Awareness Event could increase your eyewear sales!  Create a box of filthy old goggles covered with lotion and dirt, missing lenses and chewed up.  Show our customers the old eyewear and tell them they can trade in their eyewear and get 25% discount buying a new pair of goggles or 25% off of their own disposables.  Not only does almost everyone buy a new pair of eyewear, but you cut down their chance of eye infections by getting them into fresh eyewear.  Another great idea is to give everyone a complimentary small ziplock bag to keep their goggles clean. You can even rubber band them onto their lotion bottle.

To prep for your event...

have your staff take the free 30-minute eye protection training and receive their personalized Eye Protection Expert certificate at www.EyePro.net.   Wink-Ease has a one-minute quiz for your staff to take.  The person with the highest score gets bragging rights and an extra hour off or some lotion packettes.  It’s important that every employee uses eye protection when they tan.  If your team don’t believe in it, they certainly aren’t going to convince your customers.

You might also consider displaying laminated counter mats showing clients what happens when they don’t wear eye protection.  You can also put a window cling on your front door that says, ‘Eye Protection Must be Worn’ to alert clients that your store takes their safety seriously.  I believe your staff will have lots of tidbits from the training that they can share, such as you can lose your night vision and color vision from UV over-exposure, and the loss is cumulative from outdoors and indoors.  An option is to offer sunglasses during your Eyewear Awareness Week to further enhance your eyewear focus.
