SALE Away This Summer
Hot Marketing Tips Part 1

“Summer- Summer- Summer-tiiiiiiime!”

You may have noticed over the years that salon sales start going down as the temperature goes up. We’ve got some tips for you to make the most of the down time this summer AND increase your sales.

Google fun holidays this month that you can use to run promotions in your salon.

July is National Ice Cream month. Use this theme on social media to encourage interaction and keep your pages visible to your customers. Take a poll on their favorite ice cream shop or flavors. In the salon, schedule a Dollar Day Ice Cream Social. You can serve up some scoops or partner with a local ice cream shop to hand out coupons.

July 1st is International Joke Day, have customers tell a joke when they check in and they can receive a free packet or upgrade to their session that day.

July 6th is International Kissing Day. This is the perfect day (or the whole week!) to feature lip balms glosses, etc. Hand out lips stickers to all the customers that come to tan on that day. On social media, ask your fans to share pics of them kissing (spouses, children, pets, etc) for a chance to win a prize.

Throughout the week, post random facts and tips about lips, lipstick, lip gloss, and overall lip care. For a little extra random fun, include some facts about animals’ lips too!

Offer a Summer Rewards program where customers earn points on purchases of lotion, accessories, packages, moisturizers etc. Even offer points just for coming in on certain (slow) days. In August and September, customers can cash in their points. This way, you don’t have to discount anything!

Gina Jaeger, with Sun Evolutions, says “Summer is a great time of the year to build/update your email and text database. Provide incentives to your customers for providing new or updated info.”

Susan Carlton, with New Sunshine, shares this tip: “Bring in a summer “guest” product to liven things up.” Make sure your staff is familiar with it too! Contact your Account Manager for a quick training session or webinar to get your team ready to sell.

In their down time, have your staff call clients that haven’t been in in a while and offer them a summer-only promo to get them back through the door. If you send post cards or birthday cards, they can work on that list and get cards ready for the coming year so that all you have to do during busy season is drop them in the mail!

Summertime inspires endless fun and creative possibilities, check out our blog next week for more ideas on marketing and promotions to help you SALE AWAY this summer!
