Love Is In The Air!

LoveInAirLove is in the air this month and with that means lots of hearts, red & pink everywhere, oh and chocolate, definitely chocolate. What can a salon owner do to maximize the spending on this beautiful holiday? Several things you can focus on so let’s get started.
Customer Service: Now more than ever it is hard to keep customers and keep customers loyal. You need to do some things to stand out among the competition. Here are some tips you can do to take it to the next level and show them some love, awwww.

#1 – Place a rose or flower of choice on the cleaned units for Valentine’s Day. You can usually get some of these at a local grocery or shopping center for a good price. Use your reward points and coupons to get an even better price. If you have a connection at a florist, ask what you can work out. Why is this effective? Well some clients may not receive anything on that day so you would stand out as the only one to give them something.

#2 – Buy Valentine’s Day cards and leave on the bed or give them to every customer that comes in that day with a piece of candy.

#3 – Call your special clients just to let them know you care and offer a free upgrade or half price upgrade. You can substitute the upgrades for packets or $10.00 off a clothing or spa type item.

Sales: Who said we can’t push sales and still show some love to our customers? Exactly, nobody.

#1 – Create a gift registry for your clients, ask for the significant other’s email or cell phone and permission to contact them. Send the wish list with gift suggestions and pairings for price to make it easier for the men in their lives.

#2 – Offer gift certificates paired with an expensive lotion or gift set for an unbelievable price.

#3 – Make up gift sets from combinations of products on your shelves. Pair a lotion, facial product, leg product, and tan extender in one great looking Valentine’s themed bag for a great price.

#4 – If you offer multiple services besides tanning, pair these services up for a great price.

Marketing: Here is the easy part right?

#1 – If it is in your advertising budget, run an ad in the local paper or radio about your fabulous gifts you coordinated in section two. And yes, people still read the paper and listen to the radio.

#2 – Be sure to use your social media outlets, post pictures of your gifts or the employees making the gifts.

#3 – Run contests or drawings for the Ultimate Valentine’s Day Package Giveaway. For everyone that comes in and makes a purchase, they get put their name in the drawing, or you could do a raffle.

#4 – If you subscribe to text messaging or email service, blast out a pretty flyer with your gift ideas.
Make sure you have extra staff on hand to take extra time with gift buying customers. Offer to wrap their selections or personalize them. Partner with a florist if you have one in your shopping center for delivery if you can.
