Three Tips to Combat Stress

stressed

Salon owners typically wear a variety of executive hats such as accounting, marketing, sales, customer service, human resources etc. Juggling all these responsibilities can become stressful even for the most successful. Here are three tips to combat the everyday stress of owning a business.

Become a master of time management. Have a purpose and plan for each hour of the work day. Don’t allow the day to control your actions or reactions. Designate time for routine tasks such as counting inventory, ordering, paying bills, or handling emails, but always allow room for the unexpected. You can’t choreograph life but you can be more productive with your time.

Learn to delegate by delegating. Most business owners have trouble handing over control of certain duties but often find relief when they let go of the reins. Delegating allows time for the owner to concentrate on other tasks and empowers an employee to grow and learn.

Get organized. Clearing the clutter from your desk as well as your mind will improve your focus and concentration. From neatly arranged displays to useful filing systems, a business should run like a well-oiled machine.

However, even the best laid plans get bamboozled. Sometimes the best way to deal with stress is to breathe, stretch and smile. Anyone ever notice stressed is desserts spelled backwards?
